I led a session on Day 3 of LSCon called Suddenly Social: A Year of Workplace Learning Using Social Media. As part of the session, I ran a Twitter chat with the audience that also engaged people from my personal learning network. A transcript of that chat can be found by scrolling to the bottom of this page.

The Twitter chat set up the case study where behind-the-firewall social media were added to an existing workshop, resulting in the extension of the learning program into the workplace, decreasing time away from the job, and increasing the capacity of each workshop. For complete slides, see Map Deck (click here to go to the page, then choose either PPTX or WEB). I’ll add directly below some of what was tweeted during my session.

Set up questions:

  1.  From an L&D perspective, what are formal educational programs?
  2. What are social media? What are some examples?
  3. How can online social media enhance formal learning programs?
  4. How can online social media be exploited to improve employee performance?

Below is a transcript of the live chat, which used the hashtag #LS706. Note there may be additional tweets about the session included, since the hashtag was shared in the room.
